Two-form Bumble Bee

Bombus bifarius

Gore Nature Park, Central Saanich, BC

A Two-form Bumble Bee forages busily on Hooker's Onion (Allium acuminatum) flowers. "Two-form" refers to the two distinct color polymorphisms of the species; some say they should really be separated into two species. This was a restless bee, flitting from flower to flower, never still for more than a few seconds.
