Texas State Capitol Detail (Austin, Texas)

The Texas State Capitol was completed in 1888. Construction on it began in 1882 with the designs of architect Elijah E. Myers.

 

The state capital has been Austin since 1845. Temporary capitals during the Texas Revolution include San Felipe de Austin, Washington-on-the-Brazos, Harrisburg, Galveston Island, Velasco, and Columbia. Other state capitals have been Houston (1837-1840), Austin (1840-1842), and Washington-on-the-Brazos (1842-1845).
