Shanghai - Pearl of the Orient Tower
The Pearl of the Orient TV Tower (东方明珠电视塔) - short also known as "Pearl Tower" or in Chinese 东方明珠塔.
This is the modern landmark of Shanghai. Over three million visitors per year. Tallest tower in Asia, third tallest in the World. Height is 468 m.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is member of the World Federation of Great Towers.
- Three observatory levels, the highest is at 350 metres, and is called the Space Module. The second is at 263 and 259 metres and is called the Sightseeing Floor. And the lowest, called Space City, is at 90 metres.
- The tower features in total 11 spheres in various sizes.
- The the big spheres are 45 meters (upper) and 50 meters (lower) in diameter. The three columns between the two largest spheres are 9 meters in diameter.
- The smallest sphere at the top is 14m in diameter.
- The Pearl Tower also has a 20-room luxury hotel called the Space Hotel, located in the five smaller spheres between the two biggest ones.
