#GuardYourLight Challenge - Sharing My Light

Many thanks to my good friend Connor Mitchell who tagged me to participate in the #GuardYourLight Challenge, based on a idea from {{Timaaj}} . Challenge Accepted. I hope I met your expectations.

In the story of creation in Genesis until the creation of light, there was only darkness. Nothing to see. Nothing to do. No order. Even the darkness itself was technically invisible since there was no light to give it definition and contrast. Light gave everything . . .

If you are one of the few who have been paying attention, you already know that the seaside is my number one happy place. Some say the oceans are the original source of all life as we know it. Just to meditate on that in the presence of that beauty and majesty calms my soul. The sounds of Mother Ocean's rhythms, the scents of her breezes, and the chorus of her wildfowl fill my senses to overflowing. She refreshes my light.

When I share my light, it is like a message in a bottle. I send it out blindly. I never know who it will shine on, or when, or where. Will it be bright enough? Will it even be noticed? Will it do what I intended? I have to have faith that somehow, somewhere my message makes someone's day a little better. Hopefully enough better that they will send out their own bottle.

The world can oftentimes be a very dark place. Some may say that not only can darkness never truly exist without the light to illuminate it, neither can light exist without darkness to give it definition. Some day I would like to see that theory tested.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that."

― Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
