Myths & Famous Diamonds

Not surprisingly, the myths and rumours surrounding the world’s most famous diamonds are as plentiful as they are imaginative. The Koh-I-Noor, The Taylor-Burton, The Orloff, The Blue Hope and the biggest cut diamond in the world – The Great Star of Africa all have legends surrounding their retrieval and history that borders more on fiction than hard fact. And contrary to popular belief, Marilyn Monroe never wore real diamonds, but in promoting her film ”Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”, Marilyn wore the spectacular 24-carat canary yellow diamond called ”The Moon of Baroda”. The diamond was featured in the Antwerpen Diamond Museum’s 2008 exhibition ”Diamond Divas” as one of its main pieces.
