Capulin Snow Play Area
Sandia Ranger District staff and volunteers from Friends of the Sandia Mountains (FOSM) and the Talking Talons Youth Leadership/Youth Conservation Corps (TTYL/YCC) had a workday to prepare the Capulin Snow Play Area for winter fun. The crew mowed snow play slopes, removed smaller trees and brush from the field, trimmed back vegetation from roads, trails and facilities.
During the winter, the Sandia Ranger District staff clears walkways of heavy snow for access to facilities, maintains restrooms, removes trash and evaluates the conditions to ensure that all areas have proper snow coverage for opening of the Capulin Snow Play Area.
