demo hammers

What started with a hammer years ago, the HammerTooth by Estwing, now suddenly some of the other manufactures are throwing a tooth on the back and calling them demo Hammers. I figure this is a patented feature and I wonder if the other manufacturers are getting by, by calling it a demo hammer?
