Petri Blue Scope
The Petri Blue Scope dates to around 1961, give or take a year. I can't find much information about this camera, but it was apparently an economy version of the more popular Petri 7. It's virtually identical to the 7, except it lacks the selenium exposure meter around the lens, and has a blue-tinted viewfinder (hence, I suppose, the name "Blue Scope"). I surmise it had a short production run, because it is somewhat rare these days, being much less commonly found than the Petri 7 and the 7's even more common successor, the 7S. I found this one on Ebay, and it came in like-new condition in it's original (somewhat worn) box, complete with manual, warranty card and even the little packet of slilca gel. The nameplate on the camera says "Blue Magic Scope," but the box and instruction manual just say, "Blue Scope," without the "Magic". I suspect the "Magic" was a Petri marketing ploy, which was not very successful. I have yet to find anything magical about it, but I think it takes surprisingly good pictures with nice sharpness and color rendition.
