Sacred to the Memory
Moosomin SK Great War Memorial. The community established a fund of four thousand dollars to produce the memorial. The design competition was won by a Manitoba company, Quinn & Simpson of Portage la Prairie. The figure was sculpted by an Italian, Sergio Vatteroni of Carrara, and the bronze formed by a foundry in Firenze [Florence]. The finished bronze was shipped to New York on the SS Colombo and from there by train to Moosomin via Montreal. It was finally erected in 1924.
