Thanksgiving 98
From 1998
Everybody
1998 to me is not so long ago. Just yesterday in fact. Moments away - the blink of an eye. But it recedes in the rearview mirror at a wild pace and soon it will be nothing. 1998. Mother was still alive. Bob had not yet had his accident and was walking. The old house was still there. The kids were still - kids. A moment in time. Nothing extraordinary, but looking back we just didn't know what was right around the corner. What could be call whatever happiness we possessed - particularly since we didn't even recognize the perfection of the happiness of that moment. I can see it in hindsight but if I had felt it truly at the time without being distracted worried or afraid - would the happiness would the joy of living be so much greater?

I would love to live
Like a river flows,
Carried by the surprise
Of its own unfolding.
