Pharmacy Building
The Course in Pharmacy was established in 1898 with a four-year program leading to a B.S. degree in pharmacy, at a time when most pharmaceutical curricula were only two-year programs.
The Pharmacy Building was designed by architect John V. Bennes of Portland and constructed in 1924. It has been used exclusively by the College of Pharmacy since that time. The second floor once included a model drug store, which was described in a pharmacy trade magazine of the time as providing “a laboratory for instruction in store arrangement, showcase and window decorating and practical salesmanship of drugs and druggists’ sundries.” An addition to the building was constructed in 1966.
