The river at Fowey, Cornwall
Fowey is an absolutely delightful small town on the side of the River Fowey in a naturally sheltered anchorage. The river rises on Bodmin Moor and flows into the sea via a narrow channel between Fowey's Readymoney Beach and the Polruan headland on the opposite site of the river. Fowey is a great favourite with sailors, and its deep river also enables ocean-going ships to reach two jetties - just out of sight around the bend in the river - where they can upload china clay.
