The Fairytale House @ Sils, Engadin, Switzerland
Canon EOS 5DSR
Canon EF 300 MM L F2.8 IS II USM
3:1 Panoramic image with 45 vertical images stitched together in Photoshop.
The autumn in Engadin was in the top of my list for many years. But I never managed to keep enough holidays to spend some time in this arguably most beautiful region of Switzerland. The autumn color here is as spectacular as it can get. The setting is from the classic Fairytale of Swiss mountains. The lakes are amazing and the perfect early morning light and mist makes it absolutely jaw dropping. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. It was just out of the world.
A bit of snow would have been every more attractive. In fact this was the perfect time for the snow as the temperature early morning was around -5°C. But as last year was the driest in Switzerland there was no snowfall. In fact the week after the whole region was covered with 60 centimeters of snow. I got to know from one of my colleague who is from the region and the live webcam shows that as well. I wish I had some of them on the week I was there to enhance the experience a bit more. But hey, it is always good to have an opportunity to get then next time.
This was the first time I used the 300 MM F2.8 lens to make landscape work. It is bulky, heavy and too long for landscape work. But the quality is mind boggling. When it fits the situation, there is nothing that can beat the beast. I missing my polarizer though!
Please have a look at my website www.avisekhphotography.com for all my recent works.
Have a nice weekend.
Hope you will enjoy the picture.
Any suggestions or criticisms are always welcome.
