THE PROUD AMERICAN FLYING ALONGSIDE TREE-TOPS IN KODACHROME II
Thought with this flypast of the Heritage Flight Museum's A-1 Skyraider down low I would postprocess the photo as if it was taken in the 1960s with Kodachrome II tones for hopefully obvious reasons. I hope folks approve of this attempt to keep history alive.
On that note, there is a huge Heritage Flight Museum Fly Day 13 July that will start at 10 AM with a lot of Skyraider participation and even an EA-18G & Skyraider formation. The Fly Day will pay tribute to the attempts to rescue Boxer 22. As per a webpage on HeritageFlight.org - "On December 5, 1969 a F-4C Phantom, call sign “Boxer 22”, was shot down over Vietnam, forcing Capt. Benjamin Danielson (pilot) and 1st. Lt. Woodrow J. Bergeron Jr. (weapons system officer) to eject over hostile territory. The resulting rescue attempts would become the largest rescue mission during the War in Vietnam, involving a total of 336 sorties, 242 of which were flown by A-1 Skyraiders Combat Search and Rescue helicopter escorts (call sign “Sandy”)."
