North American Aviation, prime contractor for the 3-manned Apollo spacecraft, shows a preliminary full-scale model. Approximately 13' wide and 12' high, an astronaut is shown in his couch flying the spacecraft, the second sleeping and the third taking a navigational bearing. They will wear light comfortable coveralls while on their 2 1/2-day journey to the vicinity of the moon.
This had to have been one of the THE most published pre-Apollo photos...I think it was in every encyclopedia, Worldbook Annual, Science News Service, Weekly Reader, Scholastic something or another...I can't remember the name...and more.
Rather spacious, and has that wonderful 50's/60's sci-fi movie look & feel to it.
Not totally accurate, but I like it.
