I just love the look on her face! =) This is a female sea lion off the coast of La Jolla, California. She was listening to a "barking" male that was really angry at a woman (human woman) for breaching his territory by climbing up on his rock home. In general, there are signs EVERYWHERE to not do what that woman did. Hopefully she did not get hurt ... she climbed up within 10 feet from the gigantic male sea lion, approximately 4 times her size.
The sea lion jumped into the water barking at the woman. She did get scared and started to get off the rock. I did not photograph that scene... no need to catch something horrible should that happen. Hopefully nothing happened.. I walked away. People forget that real life is not a zoo!
I do have shots of that male on top of his rock before the woman approached.. I will post that when I find it. The males are MUCH bigger than the females--2-3 times their size.
