New Haven Railroad with two GE EF-4 motors seen leading a TOFC eastbound freight train past tower SS38 at Stamford, Connecticut, ca 1968, Bob Hughes Photo. Power wise a single EF-4 motor could probably handle a TOFC freight train without a problem, but they were normally operated in pairs because they did not need to be turned at the end of their trips.
