Marcoule Nuclear Facility
The darker side of the River Rhône is the abundance of nuclear power stations and research facilities along its banks due to their need for cooling water. This is the Marcoule facility at Codolet, a site where tritium and MOX fuel are generated by fast breeder reactors. There are also a number of decommissioned reactors on the site. An explosion occurred here in 2011, but fortunately caused relatively little environmental damage.
The pylons make me think of 'War of the Worlds' as they march across the landscape.
