Close Encounter of the Second Kind
This is a mostly practical forced perspective shot with a little bit of Photoshop to remove support wires and add some lighting effects. The 1:24 scale miniature is by American Diorama. He’s a mechanic wiping sweat off his brow but the pose was perfect for this. The Chevy Blazer is by Jada Toys. I can't remember the brand of the UFO model, but I assembled and painted it and then rigged it with some LED lights. Since the UFO is placed against the sky, you can't tell its true dimensions. In actuality it is about the same size as the figure and only hovering a few inches over his head.
The road diorama is 1:18 scale, but I think I shot at such an angle that you can't tell it is oversized. A single well placed Lumecube and some Atmosphere Aerosol to outline the subject is all the lighting I was working with.
