Here you can see the soap floor. That entire shiny stuff is soap. The floor is a vast mould into which the liquid soap is poured to gradually set and dry out. When it is firm enough to cut, a boy stands on a board with blades beneath and is pulled along the soap by that rope you can see lying along the centre of the soap.

 

The soap ingredients are olive oil, laurel oil and lye.
