Anna - stranger 057/100
The town of Stamford is built on the River Welland and attracts many tourists due to being made up of 17th and 18th century stone buildings, older timber-framed houses and five medieval churches. A day trip to this attractive town presented me with the chance to add to my stranger project.
Anna was visiting Stamford with her friend Lucy (see my previous stranger) and I spotted them as they were walking towards me backlit by the glorious sunshine which haloed their hair fabulously. After a quick explanation of the project they were more than willing to help me reach my target of one hundred.
A friend I was with reflected light back into Anna’s face so I could use the sun to backlight her hair the way it had been when I first noticed her and Lucy. I used a wide aperture to throw the background out of focus. We were on a very narrow pavement so had to work quickly so as not to obstruct other people too much.
Like Lucy, Anna is a fan of Tom Odell and also plays the piano. Anna also enjoys art, especially abstract work. She hopes that one day she will be in a position to be able to explore the world. When I asked Anna what she likes best about Stamford she said the people, and she agreed with Lucy that the worst thing is the amount of traffic.
Thank-you Anna for being such an enthusiastic stranger for my project.
