Lucy - stranger 056/100
A day visit to the Lincolnshire town of Stamford gave me opportunity to add to my stranger project. The town is very picturesque being made up of 17th and 18th century stone buildings, older timber-framed houses and five medieval churches. It is built on the River Welland.
After an overcast morning the sun came through for a glorious afternoon, bathing buildings and people in superb light. A side lit church caught my attention as a possible background, and two girls walking towards me backlit and haloed in a stunning blaze of auburn hair made it impossible for me not to ask if they would be willing to participate in my stranger project.
I had to work quickly as the pathway was narrow and we were blocking the pavement for other visitors to Stamford. As I wanted to utilize the beautiful backlight I used a reflector, held by a friend, to put some light back into Lucy’s face.
Lucy is still studying and her favourite subject is graphic design. She also enjoys playing the piano. Sticking with the musical theme Lucy told me she’s a big fan of Tom Odell. I then asked Lucy what she likes best about Stamford and she told me the charity shops, the worst is the traffic, particularly in the tourist season.
Thank-you once again Lucy for agreeing to be part of my 100 Stranger project.
