Kafka's birthplace

The writer (1883-1924) lived at several locations in Prague during his short life. As a High German- and Czech-speaking Jew, he was in some ways typical of the urban demographics of Prague during the last years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. At one point he lived near the Prague Castle, perhaps an inspiration for his novel, The Castle (Das Schloss).
