the part-time channel
In 1972, not only is the ITA reconstituted as the IBA (Independent Broadcasting Association) following a widening of remit (given the responsibility organising commercial radio) - hence the IBA logo in the top left-hand corner - but London Weekend moves into central London, to the South Bank. With that comes this new ident known as the 'river'. This version of the 'river' (which was to say with the station until it lost its franchise in 1992) is from an ident sequence from 1978 when the opening score (composed by Harry Rabinowitz) had lost its echo.
