Singing Loudly

After help from Buckeye of the Bird Identification Help Group, I think this is a Gila woodpecker.

 

I was quite startled when this gorgeous good-sized bird appeared suddenly as I was doing my nature walk, wearing a mask, at dawn yesterday in Central Tucson, Arizona. I was trying to capture a tall saguaro's flower buds and a few partially hidden flowers.
