Update Friday <<>> Smoke In The Catalina Mountains <<>> IMG_8207 - Version 2
The black arrow at the top of the windshield points almost directly at the smoke at the right edge of the photo. Finger Rock is at the left edge. Heading east on Skyline drive. This was my only photo showing both Finger Rock and the remaining smoke in the same shot. Of course, the pole was there at just that time...;)
The fire is almost out near Finger Rock north of central Tucson.
The Finger Rock Fire is one of five burning in Arizona right now that aren’t being actively fought. They serve a useful purpose in clearing out excessive brush accumulation. In nature, these accumulations burn off in lightning induced fires. The best time for such fires is in the humid conditions of monsoons.
