grotto arama

This is a musical performance during the Moab Music Festival.

It is in Canyonlands National Park, about 15 miles downstream from the put in area, which is at Potash Utah, about 17 miles from Moab.

It is a grotto that is carved out by water coming in over the cliffs straight overhead in the upper left hand of the shot. Most of the seating is on the sand at the bottom, but there are people sitting on the "perches" up the sides. At the right hand of the shot there is one person who is on a row that was above and mostly behind me.

This performance featured music by Rebecca Clark, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Maurice Ravel.

The piano is also brought in by boat, and then the hard part of getting it from the river bank to the performance area. About 150'. The feat has been perfected over the years, and now takes about three minutes from the time all the apparatus' are in place till its in its spot, ready to be put together.

This is about 40 shots, in both HDR, and then cludged together in photoshop. It was quite a task just to get this far, as there were many different distortions, and trying to incorporate the overhead, underneath, and give a feel of the grotto was no easy task. Also the conditions changed so much that the different EVs were even more problematic than normal.
