Mesa Arch - Canyon Lands National Park

On our grand tour of Utah (anyone with a camera should do this at some point in their life!), I had a burning passion to try my luck finding the glowing Mesa Arch. Leaving Moab stupid early to make the hour plus drive to Canyon Lands was tough enough, but doing it in the face of a nasty weather report that predicted heavy clouds and continued rain that had dogged use the previous day. Ugh! No sun; no first light; no glow on the arch. Decided to try anyway as it was my only chance. was the second car in the parking lot, which was amazing unto itself. Of course the other "car" cheated - it was a camper and he had spent the night. We both walked out the arch together and did an anti-rain dance as we went. As the morning drew near, all one could see on the horizon was layers of clouds. Just when I thought we were out of luck, there was a sudden and brief parting of the clouds and the sun broke through. Not only did the arch glow an amazing orange; the sky even contributed to the show. Made my entire 3 weeks journey! Enjoy!
