A big clock

No-one would reckon being under heavy fire at Epinoy in 1918 was worth it, even for a big clock, but it seemed to the good folk of Goldthorpe & Highgate to be the proper thing to do after the event.

The clock was presented to my husband's maternal grandfather after the Great War. The plaque reads:

Presented to W.Taylor Y&L Regt by the Goldthorpe & Highgate Heroes Fund for winning D.C.M. for exceptional bravery under heavy fire at Epinoy. Oct.1918.
