El primer veritable motor cohet / The first true rocket motor

I aquí, quan ja funcionava:

Ah, i aquí teniu un plànol esquemàtic del motor, per si no us aclariu amb el merder que jo hi he fet:

Follow the numbers from 1 to 8 in the picture to know the schematics of it's working (a little chaotic, I know, my fault).
And with 'true' I mean 'big', because prior to WW2 there were small experimental rockets, but quite tiny. This rocket propelled the german V-2 missile to bombard London, Antwerpen, Paris and other cities. The basical idea was here, because modern rocket motors are the same system, only much perfected, but more or less the same elements. You could see them with the mouse over the picture.
More than 3000 of these were launched, but the most sad detail is that more people were killed building them that in their objectives: 7250 deaths in the bombings, but 12000 slave labour in the nazi concentration camps to built them. Apalling!
This V-2 stands in the Imperial War Museum in London.
Fortunately the nazis didn't have the nuclear weapon, because the V-2 would had been a very powerful 'delivery' system. The combination of ballistic missile + nuclear weapon would mark the Cold War, and even today there's that danger.
It was hard to make it work:

But finally they perfected it:
