La Ihagee VP Exakta és la germana gran de la famosa Ihagee Kine Exakta (o Exakta a seques) de 35mm. El nom VP Exakta fa referencia a la Kodak Vest Pocket, i en concret al rodet format 127 que aquesta feia servir. Tot i el format 127, no és pràcticament més gran que la Kine Exakta, tot i que és anterior. Aquest model es el B cromat, datant del 1938. Es diferencia dels models inicials del 1933 en ser cromada en comptes de negra, i incorporar un selector de velocitats lentes i un tirador per avançar la pel·licula més ràpidament.
Per desgracia el obturador no funciona.
En principi aquesta reflex projecta la imatge invertida i cap a dalt, com una TLR, però per mitjà d'una placa de metall polit (no un mirall propiapment dit), es pot veure la imatge a nivell dels ulls, QUASI com una reflex moderna. Dic quasi perque la imatge està doblement invertida, en l'eix vertical i l'eix horitzontal. Fins que no s'inventà el pentaprisma no es trobà la sol·lució, en la postguerra mundial.

This is an Ihagee VP Exakta model B, made in 1938. Is one of the first SLR cameras not of large format. It is not a 35mm camera, but a 127 format, so just a bit larger. Anyway, the shape is just that of a SLR, already, and with the first production models from 1933!!
This VP Exkata is in the chrome model, and also has a slow speeds selector and a rapid advance lever. The lens is a Zeiss Tessar f3.5 / 75mm.
It even has a shinny metallic surface to reflect the upwards reflected image (like in a TLR), so you can see the image ALMOST at eye level. But it is mirrored twice. It was not untill the invention of the pentaprism a decade later or more that the true modern SLR appeared.
Sadly this camera has a not working shutter, but maybe I could manage to make it move again, because the curtains look in quite good shape.
