La cúpula atòmica / The Atomic Dome
Per sempre més la ciutat d'Hiroshima estarà lligada a la destrucció nuclear, des del fatidic 6 d'agost del 1945. És dificil d'explicar tot l'horror que aquest nom ara implica.
La Genbaku-domu o Cupula Atomica és el centre dels nombrosos memorials que recorden la matança. Abans de ser per sempre famós en quedar mitjanament sencer tot i quedar practicament sota l'explosió atomica, era l'edifici de promoció industrial de la ciutat (com una mena de cambra de comerç). Ara és patrimoni de la humanitat de la UNESCO.

The now sadly famous Atomic Bomb Dome, Genbaku-Dome in japanese, was originally built as an industrial promotion hall for the city. But it stood just below the first atomic bomb used in anger.
