Robber Fly (Cerotainia sp.) with prey

Cerotainia sp. Found at Ice Age Trail property in Cross Plains in southern Wisconsin. Dane County, Wisconsin, USA.

 

Found on stem tip of small plant at hardwood forest/prairie margin. Prey looks to possibly be a big-headed fly, Family Pipunculidae.
