Duke of Lancaster (IMO 5094496)

Built in 1955 by Harland & Wolff Ltd Belfast (yard no. 1540) for the British Transport Commission (later Sealink UK), this twin-screw, steam turbine powered passenger ferry served Irish Sea routes from Heysham. Ro-ro capability was added by means of a stern vehicle door in 1970. In 1979, she arrived at Llanerch-y-Mor, near Mostyn on the Dee estuary and was placed in a permanently enclosed dock. Various attempts to find viable leisure uses for the vessel have so far failed.
