Publishing Panel Discussion
Susan Shapiro, a New York author and journalism professor, held a panel discussion in September 2009 at the public library in Montclair, New Jersey to share strategies and secrets for how to get published. The talk covered journalism and book publishing. Much of the advice was pretty sound, such as knowing your target market as an author.
Pictured are the writers and editors who took part in the discussion. They are, from left, Ms. Shapiro, Nicole Bokat, Eric Copage, Dana Jennings (of the New York Times), Kristen Kemp, and Molly Lyons.
Mr. Jennings had the best advice. He told the audience to write about what makes you different.
