Hot and Bothered
We had planned to catch train no.19119 from Rajkot Junction to Junagadh Junction (which was booked for ALCo haulage) in order to join the metre gauge for the next few days of our trip. However, this train had a 30 mins connection into the service to Amreli where we were overnighting and with some noticeable delays already forming we decided not to risk it and caught the earlier GM hauled train no.11466 which had a more reasonable 2 hour connection. It was just as well we decided to depart as two Railway Protection Force officers informed us we couldn't take photographs on the station as this service rolled in. Having bought unreserved second class tickets for this service it also gave us our first experience of the typical passenger loadings on Indian Railways, with one of our party managing to occupy a seat and the other two of us in the luggage rack above!
After an incredibly slow journey down from Rajkot Junction, WDP4D no.40183 departs Junagadh Junction with train no.11466 from Indore to Somnath on 1st November 2022. YDM4 no.6692 can be seen in the metre gauge platform behind waiting to form train no.09540 17:40 service to Amreli.
