Inktober 2022 Day 30: Autumn.

I’ve been working in the garden

Now that Autumn’s in full force

I’ve been sweeping up the fallen leaves

And cutting back the gorse

 

I’ve a very useful compost heap

Most leaves will go on there

I’m really rather proud of it

It’s a very grand affair

 

I’ve managed several wheelbarrows

Full of these fallen leaves

But the squirrel’s cached the acorns

They’re very clever thieves

 

I love the autumn colours

Of red and green and gold

Yes, Mother Nature’s palette

Is a wonder to behold

 

But I’m careful to leave some piles of leaves

‘Til spring again comes round

As many creatures winter there

Safely on the ground

 

So I’ll compost some and leave some

Below my old oak tree

Then every body’s happy

In Nature’s harmony
