Now clean up any hanging bits of binding left in the gap and cover it with the duck tape. This will add strength the the spine and also make it look nicer. Take care to make the tape lie flat against the spine as well as the front and back covers. If you don't the tape will separate from the spine and not add strength.

 

Here is the interior of my cover with my earbuds wrapped around the center for easy storage.
