Pass Coverage (Explored)

For Our Daily Challenge: Cover

Since I was watching college football for most of the day on Monday anyway, I decided to experiment with photographing and processing a shot taken from the TV screen. This image from Monday’s Outback Bowl game isn’t the greatest you’ll ever see, but I was surprised that it came out as well as it did.

I outlined the two players and the referee at left, as well as the ball and orange end-zone marker, then added gaussian blur and desaturation to the background on a top-down gradient to try and emphasize the action.

The pass coverage here looks good by the Georgia defender in red, but I believe this pass was caught for a touchdown by the Michigan State receiver in white. Michigan State won the game 33-30 in triple overtime.
