Network Exile
Two of the refurbished "Clacton Express" class 309 EMU's 609615 & 609611 are seen well out of their usual operating area. forming the Hertfordshire Railtours/SEG 'Network Exile' railtour covering electrified routes in the West Midlands and North West which was a first for the class, they are heading up to Hadfield, coming off Dinting viaduct into Dinting station on what was once the direct line to Sheffield over the Woodhead route.
From construction in 1962-63 up until 1994 these units were exclusively used between London Liverpool Street, Clacton and Walton-on-Naze.
