Farringdon Station – in 1965
The northbound view from the end of the platform, looking towards the Clerkenwell Road bridge: the London Underground Circle Line tracks are on the right, the BR tracks on the left. There used to be a short siding, seen on left, where a banking loco was kept – this was used to assist heavy freight trains get up the 1 in 40 incline after they had crossed under the Circle Line tracks, beneath the Ray Street bridge.
