Abandoned textbook

This picture pretty much sums up the mood I was in when I captured this shot. I had just left Jury Duty and was hopping around Downtown Houston just looking around. (It is pretty cool to go look around and explore when you are getting paid to do it!) Anyway, it was on a park bench in Eleanor Tinsley Park with no one even close to it. The Judge in our case had just taken the time to explain how the court system works to sixty of us prospective jurors. He said that twelve years ago when he first became a Judge for every mail-out of Jury summons they had 54% of those people actually show up. Now, here in 2006 the response is a meager 18% and keeps falling year after year. We HAVE to have Jurors folks, the system does not work without them.
