Only a few viewers found themselves "bored" or thought his hosting gig was just "OK." There are few things I love more than awards show fashion. The second the new year rolls around, I am filled with anticipation for the jaw dropping looks, the horribly placed layers and the inevitably unflattering gowns. To be fair, bad dresses happen to everyone. No best dressed list would be complete without Lupita Nyong’o. Her all pearl Calvin Klein made jaws drop with its intricate detail. Nyong’o had tried every color, and this Klein number proved to the world that wearing white could not stop her reign on the list of the best dressed. The pearls demanded attention without being obnoxious. Lupita was her typical self ➺ classy, striking and flawless. among the musical performers, Levine, McGraw and Ora put in elegant if unsurprising appearances, while for sheer, controlled ➳ chaos exuberance, it was hard to top 'Everything Is Awesome' from animated feature shutout The Lego Movie. ... At the other end of the spectrum, Common and Legend reduced many in the audience to tears with a stirring rendition of Oscar ➺ winning song 'Glory' from Selma." The number was sometimes amusing and melodic, but we're used to that. The surprise was that it was also an earnest, even sweet, salute to the magic of the movies. ... Most opening numbers have encouraged us to laugh at the movies ➳ this one tried to remind us that most of us love them."
