Green Flowered Helleborine

The strangest location to photograph an orchid this year. This is Green Flowered Helleborine in a lay-by next to the A225 in Kent. The blurs top left are cars passing at about 60MPH.

This is the only site for this Orchid in Kent and there are 30 or so flowers here in what looks a very inhospitable environment.

It shows the typical apple green colouration and the drooping flowers which give the orchid its alternative name 'Pendulous Flowered Helleborine'. The flowers aren't open, in many cases they don't ever fully open and are self fertilized. I will return in a week or so to see if any do open this year.
