Yosemite – Toward the Falls

An uncharacteristically stormy day in July of what has been, overall, one of the driest years on record. As with so many places in Yosemite during the summer, the biggest trick here is actually getting a composition without any people in it. And the bright side of visiting on a stormy summer day, is that everything looks a lot greener than normal for this time of year – both as a result of recent rain, and of the quality of soft, diffused light provided by the overcast sky. I've seen the valley in every kind of light imaginable, and I honestly can't say which kind is my favorite.
