The haunted? Mausoleum.
There is a rather spooky little story associated with this 1862 era Mausoleum.
The cement patch on the upper left hand side of the crypt was one a barred window, with a bronze bell hung upon it. The bell had a chain which led into the crypt and could be rung if a visitor become locked inside ( Reason given) or if someone was entombed alive in the crypt and wanted out (Unsaid reason)
Legend has it that one night the groundskeeper heard the bell ringing, figuring it was just trespassers ( at the time the cemetery was a good few miles from the city, quite a hike for nighttime trespassing ) grabbed his lantern and headed over He found nothing. When the same event occurred the second evening, he thoroughly scoured the grounds, and even opened the crypt, shining his lantern over the coffins, nothing was disturbed or out of place. As he turned to walk back , the bell started ringing again. Turning around he witnessed the chain being pulled and bell ringing moving in the breezeless evening. It stopped as he approached. Again he opened the crypt. The end of the chain was swaying, but nothing else was moving. Everything was still in its place.
It has never been said if the bell ever rang again, but at some point, for some reason, the bell was removed and the window cemented in.
