Juniperus x pfitzeriana 'Daub’s Frosted' 9/2021 Pfitzer Juniper- (John Mitsch Nursery, OR 1987) Yellow Pfitzer Juniper, Size at 10 years: 18in, yellow tip, USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Michigan Bloom Month -, In Garden Bed S1,1a for 11.0 YEARS (MSU). Planted in 2010.
Slow grower. A low growing ground cover that I staked. Pfitzer Juniper (cross betyween J. chinensis & sabina). Pfitzer Group also includes; 'Fruitlandii', 'Gold Coast', 'Hetzii', 'Compact', 'Wilhelm Pfitzer', 'Pfitzeriana Aurea', and 'Pfitzeriana Glauca'. I purchased this from MSU Hidden Lake Gardens in 2010. Winter interest. Trimmed 2018. It was staked when purchased and I restaked it once. It no longer requires support.
Missouri Botanical Garden: 'Daub's Frosted' is a compact, low-spreading, evergreen shrub that typically grows to 1-2' tall and spreads in an almost ground-hugging fashion to 3-6' wide. It is noted for its two-toned foliage. New growth emerges yellow but matures to blue-green. Overall plant appearance is blue green foliage frosted with yellow new growth at the tips.
'Daub's Frosted' is currently sold in commerce as a cultivar of Juniperus chinensis, Juniperus x media or Juniperus x pfitzeriana.
