Climate emissions reduction forecast...File photo dated 10/01/07 of Eggborough Power Station. The recession will help reduce climate emissions in the next two years, but the UK is set to miss long-term goals to make deep cuts in carbon dioxide by 2020, analysts warned today. PRESS ASSOCIATION Photo. Issue date: Tuesday April 21, 2009. According to Cambridge Econometrics forecasts, CO2 emissions will fall by around 3% a year in 2009 and 2010 but a continued reliance on coal and gas-fired power stations means that fossil fuels will make a significant contribution to meeting the country's energy needs up to the end of the next decade and emissions will fall more slowly from 2010.
