Rita Crane Photography: Pont de la Tournelle / Souvenirs de Paris / Notre Dame / Ile Saint-Louis / La Seine
Great memories of photographing the bridges along the Seine. I was walking across the Pont Sully and to the west was this wintry scene of Paris and Notre Dame: a rainstorm had just passed...and the clouds filled the sky with drama!
And some history! This site is one of the best I've found of historic images and photos of all the bridges of Paris. Voila ce site merveilleux:
Photos et historiques de tous les ponts et bords de Seine: lefildutemps.free.fr/paris/index.htm
It presents ALL the bridges of Paris in images and engravings that date to the Middle Ages, and great vintage photographs from the late 1800's and early 1900's as well.
Le Pont de la Tournelle. Historique du port et du quai de la Tounelle: lefildutemps.free.fr/paris/pont_tournelle.htm
And for a little more information, Le Pont de la Tournelle in English: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pont_de_la_Tournelle
Le Pont de la Tournelle en francais: www.paris.fr/portail/deplacements/Portal.lut?page_id=218
An excellent link about the historic center of Paris, showing the development around the Ile de la Cite and Ile St. Louis from the 1400's to the 1800's.
