Built according to oral tradition on the site where Godefroy de Bouillon reviewed the knights who were about to leave for the first crusade in 1098, the present Gothic church of the Holy Sepulchre dates from the 15th and 19th centuries. The ensemble of the thirty-one stained glass windows was designed by artist-painter Alfred Manessier (1911–1993) between 1982 and 1993 on the theme of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ.
